Six Word Fridays: Sweet

Love Letters
Prom: she adorned with curled tresses,
dressed immaculately for this special occasion —
turquoise cascades in shimmering, silken splendor
and he, tall and handsome, strong – –
at her side looking polished, rich.
curfew set, their limo stole off
begging the nighttime to slow itself
this night together in 100 apart…

Long distance young love, postmaster’s friend
ink long since faded, paper torn
sweet nothings echo in empty mailbox.
“Return to sender, forwarding address unknown.”

Memories of their romance still sweet.
Yesterday, it seems, they were one.
And tomorrow? A sealed, stamped envelop
of promise. Ready to make amends.

  1. A letter, stamped and sealed: like a promise, waiting to be fulfilled!

  2. This is beautiful. The ending is just perfect. 🙂

  3. Long distance young love is so tumultuous, isn’t it?

Beauitfully written and I adore the photo.
